Helen A. Roman
1937-2020
Helen Roman passed peacefully on March 11, 2020.
Helen was born on August 22, 1937 to Ralph & Mary Koons in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She married
Walter A. Roman May 4th, 1957 and moved to Rochester NY. A son & daughter were born in
the years that followed. The family then relocated to Hof, West Germany with Walter's job.
Traveling and exploring various parts of Europe with two small children was no easy feat, but
Helen enjoyed it all! A few years later, they moved back to the United States - to Penfield NY. In
the following few years, 2 more sons were born. Helen was an awesome full-time mom &
homemaker in those years. As the children got older, Helen worked at Penfield High School. In
1977, the family moved to Altamonte Springs, FL. There she worked at K Mart for many years,
where she was well loved. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, feeding the
birds and squirrels in her yard, craft beers, shopping, lunches with her friend Teresa, Jeopardy
& visiting with family. The children grew up, moved out, some got married & had kids. But
everyone knew their house was always "home". It was "home" for every family celebration,
holiday or just to hang out. Helen was always there making sure everyone had enough to eat,
making us smile with her crazy Christmas bathroom, funny holiday hats and a personality that
just radiated happiness. It is fitting that she passed at home, surrounded by family. She was and
will always be loved & remembered beyond words.
Helen is survived by Walter A. Roman, her husband of 62 years, children John (Rose Jaworski) Roman of
