Helen A. Smith

Helen Smith passed away to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 5:30 AM on April 5, 2018.

Helen Albertina Jansen was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Anna on the 8th of April, 1925. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. After graduating from High School at White Bear Lake MN she attended Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis MN. It was there she met Paul Smith and they married the 17th of June, 1950. After graduating from Northwestern they went to Southern Rhodesia, Africa where they served under The Evangelical Alliance Mission.

They served as missionaries in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe for twenty-five years. Helen's ministries included administrative duties at the Word of Life book store, hostel parent, accountant at the field headquarters as well as supporting Paul's primary ministry running the radio recording studio. They later worked two years at TEAM's station Radio Victoria on the island of Aruba. When Paul was assigned to TEAM headquarters in Wheaton, Illinois, Helen went to work for Tyndale Publishing until retirement.

Helen was kind and hospitable. Her loving ways were evident and because she was such an important part of her family's lives, she will be greatly missed. Helen's underlying passion in life was that all might come to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul preceded Helen to Heaven in 2009, and she is survived by four children, Paul Fielding Smith Jr. (Judy), Philip Jansen Smith (Arvella), William Arthew Smith (Anbinh) and Julia Helen Smith, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Henry Chapel of First Baptist Church of Orlando.
