Helen (Krett) Walsh, born August 28, 1927, in Johnstown, PA. passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, at the age of 96. Helen was number nine of ten children; she lost her mother at an early age and as a result became fiercely independent. She bravely left her hometown at the age of 18 to work as part of the war effort in Washington, DC, where she lived and worked on her own for 10 years until she met her future husband Sargent Major Henry R. Walsh. She and Henry had 5 children together, Frances, Katherine, Nicholas, Richard and Margaret, all while living the busy and nomadic military family life. Helen was a strong woman who led her family solo during two separate yearlong deployments by her husband. Together, they moved to Orlando upon Henry's retirement and became a part of the community by participating in the many school, sports, and church activities of a lively family. Helen was a great cook, always the dependable neighbor and a reliable employee. She was a grandmother to six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. We are grateful for having her for so many years and she will always be in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in East Orlando at 895 South Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822 on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at the hyperlink Wounded Warrior Project will be welcomed.
