Herman G. Berkheimer, Jr., age 60, of East Orlando, FL passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday March 1, 2015.
Herman was a 20 year retired US Army Staff Sargent. He was a heavy wheel vehicle mechanic and Sr. instructor at the Wheel Vehicle School at Ft. Jackson, SC. He was a recruiter for 4 years in New Jersey. Herman and his wife, Glenda, travelled the world during his Army career. He was a 21 year resident of Orlando, FL. Born on February 7, 1955 in Chester, PA and graduating from Chichester High School, Class of 1973.
After retiring from the military, Mr. Berkheimer worked as an auto mechanic at Pep Boys, Action Gator and Tuffy, and later became service manager.
Herman loved his wife, Glenda, drag racing his '68 Ford Mustang at Speed World Orlando and taking his Harley out riding with Glenda and adored his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Glenda S. Berkheimer (nee: Schultz); sons, James (Suzanne) Berkheimer of St. Cloud, FL and Glen (Stephanie) Berkheimer of Kent, WA; daughter, Tiffany (Geoff) Anton of Christmas, FL; brother, Steven (Sharon) Berkheimer of Claymont, DE; sister, Roberta Lynn (Richard) Broderick of Kirkwood, PA; eleven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman G. Sr. and Beatrice Berkheimer of Georgetown, DE.
Visitation is Friday March 6, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm with funeral service starting at 7pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (East Orlando Chapel). Pastor Candace Vander Weide is officiating.
