Hubert Dale Custer, 99, formerly of Parkersburg, WV, went to his heavenly home November 7, 2017, from Conway Lakes Health and Rehabilitation Center in Orlando, FL. Hubert was born in Parkersburg, WV, on January 30, 1918. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, a World War II Army veteran, a Battle of the Bulge survivor with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and a retired foreman with Corning Glass Works in Parkersburg.
He was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Broadway Church of the Nazarene in Parkersburg as well as Leesburg (FL) Church of the Nazarene, First Church of the Nazarene, Gainesville (FL), and St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Winter Park, FL. He was a deeply committed Christian dedicating his life to God, family, and the Church.
He is survived by his only son Dr. Harold Custer (Kay) of Winter Park, FL; two grandsons Nathan (Jennifer) of Columbus, OH, and Wesley (Katie) of Orlando, FL; four great grandsons Patrick, Andrew, and Simon of Columbus, and Alex of Orlando; one sister Eleanor McPherson of Orange City, FL; and several nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Webster Custer and Nora Utter Custer Basham, one brother Lloyd Custer, one sister Nina Custer Dye, and his wife of 64 years Beulah Custer.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, November 11, 4:00 p.m., at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Winter Park, FL, with visitation at 3:00 p.m., and Wednesday, November 15, 11:00 a.m., at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV, with visitation at 10:00 a.m.
