Ira Lewis Jarvis

October 26, 1930 — January 8, 2023

On January 8, 2023, this world lost an amazing, remarkable, loving man and heaven gained a faithful loving soul.

Ira, who many know as Lewis, was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary K. Jarvis. He was also proceeded in death by his parents, Edwin and Madge Jarvis, his sisters, Jean Fleming, Virginia Boggess and brother Edwin Jarvis.

Ira is survived by his daughter, Janice Goodman (Mike), sons, Gregory Jarvis (Glenda) and Jeffery Jarvis, Sr. (Kathy) and survived by his grandchildren, Mary Renner, Scott Chapman, Benjamin Goodman, Charles Jarvis, Jeffery Jarvis, Jr., Shane Jarvis, , and, great-grandchildren, Kaylee Chapman, Taylor Ann Jarvis, Scott L. Chapman, Olivia Renner, Charlize Chapman, Leila Renner, Sophia Jarvis, Sutton Jarvis, Willow Renner, Mahala Renner, Jack Goodman, Caroline Goodman and his great-great-grandson Jeremiah Gordley.

Lewis had a deep love for all nature and life that nurtured a life of learning all things. His favorite book was the Bible (which he read cover to cover many times). He not only learned from the Bible, but he also lived by its teachings. He was loved by those who knew him and admired by those who had met him. He led a Christian life and now he will live in eternity with his beloved family in Heaven.

Publisher of two books and started on a third. Ira wrote many short stories and poems. He was very thoughtful in his writings and imaginative in the story telling. We can still hear him say "that reminds me of a story".

Ira was a true patriot. He served 20.5 years in the military, Navy (2 years) and Air Force (18.5 years) and earned several distinguished awards including two Bronze Stars, one of which was during his last year of service while in Vietnam.

Let us rejoice. May our many memories together celebrate Ira's full life.
