Irma Rafaela Perez of Orlando, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the age of 93. Irma was born to parents Calixto and Celina Oria on October 24, 1927 in Matanzas, Cuba. The oldest of four siblings, she relocated with her beloved husband and son to Orlando, Florida in 1986 after raising her family in the Union City/North Bergen, New Jersey area, aka "Havana on the Hudson" for its large Cuban-American community.
She is survived by her son George Perez, his wife Beth, her sister Zunilda Santos, and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Carlos Perez, sister Brigida Costa and brother Calixto "Carlito" Oria.
All who knew Irma could not fail to be touched by her humor and zest for life. She loved animals, dance and good conversation, and had an unmatched knack for decorating. But what most clearly distinguished Irma was her devotion and bond to her son and her love for family and friends. Irma's gregarious personality was best exemplified when sharing stories of her family and experiences to all who would listen.
A gathering will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions-East Orlando Chapel, (895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822), with a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA (https://www.aspca.org) in memory of Irma R. Perez.
