Isabel De Jesus

March 13, 1950 — January 26, 2021

Isabel DeJesus 70, of Orlando died peacefully in the arms of her daughter at 12:31 PM on January 26, 2021 at Orlando Health Regional Medical Center, after a courageous fight with COVID-19.

Isabel was born on March 13th, 1950 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to Bienvenida and Valentin Ramos. Isabel was an avid traveler. She took many trips all over Europe with her family and siblings. She enjoyed going on cruises all through the Caribbean and South America in the company of her husband Jose.

She was the happiest when she was with her family. The greatest joy and light of her eyes were her children Jose Junior and Rachel, who blessed her with four grandchildren that she adored. Isabel was loved by anyone who knew her. She worked many years at the New York Botanical Gardens in the horticulture department. When she moved to Orlando she worked at Valencia College until her retirement in 2017. There she was seen as the momma of the Social Sciences division of the East campus. She was the lifeline of that office according to her coworker.

She loved to take mini day trips with her cousins to thrift shops, craft stores, antique shops, and of course the spontaneous casino trips to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. Isabel made those penny and nickel machine so much fun. She lit up your life like the lights in the casino.

Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. Her tradition was to host a Christmas Eve/family reunion every year. The highlight of the night for her, was when Santa distributed the gifts at midnight to the younger members of the family. Christmas will never be the same.

Preceded in death by her father Valentin Ramos. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart of almost 52 years, Jose (Joey);
by her mother Bienvenida Ramos, children Rachel and James Powell; Jose Jr. and Stefanie Dejesus, and her grandchildren Sabrina, Corrina, Anjolee and Gavin; many siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.

Her life was a blessing,
Her memory a treasure.
She is loved beyond words,
and missed beyond measure.
