Isabel Vargas

Isabel Vargas, July 8th, 1927 - February 12, 2025, passed away at the age of 97. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, Armando Vargas and Amalia Villafane, daughter, Lissette Rodriguez, sister, Elba Vargas and brother, Armando Vargas. 

 She is survived by her son, Julio A. Rodriguez and his wife, Noelia Rodriguez, daughter, Lourdes Vargas-Bogardus, grandchildren, Yovannie Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Johanna Guerra, Carlos Guerra, Julio Guerra, and Benjamin Woodford, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren (ages 1-34) and sister, Silvia Vargas. 

 Isabel worked for over 20 years as an executive secretary for the Puerto Rico Telephone Company. She retired in 1989 at the age of 62 and relocated to FLO in 1997. After moving to FLO, Isabel enjoyed attending a senior center, where she volunteered to be the treasurer. At the senior center, she made many friends, enjoyed going on trips, and creating craft projects.

 One could always show up at Isabel’s home; an exceptional cook, she found great joy in feeding her loved ones, often preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together. She was at her best when surrounded by her family, visiting, and enjoying their company. Her home was a hub for family members to gather.

 Her daughter Lissette’s children (Johanna, Carlos and Julio); speak kindly of their grandmother, often referring to her as someone who made a significant contribution to their well-being while growing up.

 Growing up in Puerto Rico, Isabel was always seen giving rides to friends and family, instigating gatherings with her cousins and siblings, and always having delicious food to share. Isabel loved laughing with her family and friends. People described her as loving, spirited, and caring, with strong points of view. She liked to dress impeccably; her signature style often included color combinations that perfectly matched her shoes, jewelry, purse, and her hair was always well styled.

Isabel Vargas will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.

 Visitation is Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with funeral service starting at 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel), 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, Florida 32792.
