J. Michael Anderson died peacefully Monday, February 15, at Village Place Longwood. FL after a long illness. He was 73 yrs. old.
Michael was born in Worcester, MA. He graduated from North High School in Worcester, and from Worcester Polytechnical Institute, where he was a member of the ROTC. After graduation he joined the Army, and was stationed at Ft. Huachuca as a First Lieutenant. He earned a MBA degree from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He had an illustrious career in Marketing, in administrative positions in several firms, including Vice President of Continental Can Co. He lived in New York City, Oak Park, IL, Westminster, MD, Windermere, FL, Orlando, FL, and Longwood, FL.
Michael was once active in the Special Olympics, and active in other charitable organizations over the years. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for the "COPS" program ("Citizens on Patrol"), under the Longwood, FL Police Dept, visiting shut-ins and assuring that they were safe in their homes.
Michael loved his best friend, Sanney Etchison who was by his side when he needed her.
Michael was predeceased by his mother Ethel Signe (Erlandson) Anderson, and his father Gustaf Stanley Anderson. He had no brothers or sisters, but was close with his cousins Roy Peterson of Katonah, NY, F. Karen (Anderson) Gauch of Cape Cod, MA, and the late Robert L. Anderson of Waltham, MA.
"Uncle Mike" had no children of his own, but loved his nieces and nephews, Linda (Peterson) Schmidt of Vero Beach, FL, Nancy (Peterson) Juliano of Poughquag, NY, Bonnie Gauch of Springfield, VA, Laurie (Gauch) Mierop of Lawrenceville, GA, Kristin (Anderson) Buxton of Burlington, MA, and Robin (Anderson) Demoy, of Billerica, MA, and all his Grandnieces and Grandnephews. He likewise had much love for Michelle and Lisa Locascia, who called him "Poppy".
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the "Citizens on Patrol" program of the Longwood, Florida Police Department at 235 W. Church Ave., Longwood, FL 32750.
Friends and relatives will gather March 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM for a Celebration of Life at the Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, South Seminole Chapel, 335 East State Rd, Rt 434, Longwood, FL. Internment will be private at a later date.
Following the services at the funeral home there will be a reception at Victoria's on Dog Track Drive, Longwood, Florida
