Pope, Sr., Jack E., age 71 died peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, after a long illness. He was a former Orange County Deputy Sheriff, awarded the Good Citizenship Award for police work with the city of Orlando in 1966 and ultimately retired from the City of Orlando. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Mokanna Lodge #329 F.&A.M., and the Bahia Shrine Temple. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Irene, with whom he had three children: sons, Jack Jr. (Silena); Tony (Debbie); daughter Cheryl Gentry (Wes); six grandchildren Diana, Jami, Jay, A.J., Austin, and Hailey; one sister, Maxine Bruce, and a large extended family. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1 at 11:00AM with services to follow at 12:00 Noon at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, 407-277-4227.
