James Otis Batten, Sr.

James Otis Batten, Sr., of Maitland, FL, passed away on October 27, 2017, at the age of 78. He was born in Whiteville, North Carolina, on February 20, 1939, to Oscar and Ola Mae Creech Batten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his daughter, Teresa Kay Batten, and his son, Rae Fields Batten.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Shipman Batten of 57 years, his son, James Otis Batten, Jr., of Maitland FL, and two grandchildren, William G. Randall, Jr. and fiance' Julie DeNicola of Winter Park, FL, and Shannon Riley Batten of Maitland, FL. He is also survived by his brother Charles Daniel Batten of Sandersville, GA., and two sisters, Gloria Batten Dowless of Clarkton, NC., and Phyllis Batten Williams, of Clarkton, NC., as well as two nephews and three nieces.
Services will be held November 11, at 1:00 p.m., at First Congregational Church of Winter Park, 225 S. Interlachen Ave., Winter Park, FL., 32789. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, Building Fund.
