James Eugene Cook, age 79, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Advent Health Orlando. He was the husband of his beloved wife, Elizabeth.
James was born on October 26, 1939 in Bowling Green, OH, son of the late Alva and Martha (Spaulding) Cook. From 1963 to 1964, James honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army. On August 29, 1970, he married Elizabeth Nero. James was an independent business owner, operating his own trash collection company in Ohio before he retired and eventually moved to Florida. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. In his later years, he loved to play bingo, and just enjoy time spent with any and all.
James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth; two sons, James Cook and his wife, Stephanie, and Greg Cook and his wife, Tracy; three grandchildren, Kaela Cook, Brenna Dueñas, and Matt Cook; four great-grandchildren, Brennan Cook, Isaac Cook, Savana and Max Cook; one brother, Dave Cook (Wife Paula).
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ron Cook, Jack Cook, Roger Cook and his sisters, Phyllis Sloan, Joyce Lance, and Sue Perry.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822 with Pastor Tom Hensley officiating.
The family will receive friends preceding the service on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
