Montgomery, James Edward- Went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2004. He was survived by his wife of 42 years, Jerlene B. Montgomery, his children, Sandra Stracener, Orlando, Vincent Montgomery, Oviedo, Andrea Pustelnyk of Winter Springs & Candice Dowdy of Orlando. He has a sister, Alice Martelle in Vermont, and has 12 grandchildren who all live in the Orlando Area. He passed away from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. Visitation will be at Newcomer Family Funeral Home on Sunday, March 21, 2004, from 12:30 – 3:30 PM. A family burial will be at Drawdy-Rouse Cemetery on Monday, March 22, 2004 at 9:30 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM in The Henry Chapel of First Baptist Church of Orlando. He was best known as "Jim", Daddy", "Grandpa" and "Papa" to his grandchildren. He was a Boy Scout Leader, baseball coach, family handyman. His time in the US Army was spent as a photographer. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and wood crafting in his shop. He was a long time employee of Merita Bakeries and Gould/GNB Batteries from which he retired when he became ill with Parkinson's 18 years ago. Jim was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Orlando and a devout Christian for many years. He will be missed and remembered by his family and friends for his many unselfish acts of help and care throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests contributions be made in memory of Mr. Montgomery to FBC/ORL "I love my church" Program or the Parkinson's Foundation.
