James Glisson passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2019, at the age of 83.
James is predeceased by his loving parents, John W. and Hazel Giddens Glisson; his sister Wanda Gail Glisson; and his brother and best friend, Wendell Alfred Glisson.
James is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Charlene (Charlee) Glisson, who he affectionately called "Sweetie". His daughter, Michelle (Keven) Phillips of Casselberry, FL; and son, Shane (Kimberly) Glisson of Orlando; two granddaughters, Megan Lorena and Trinity Jane; his two sisters, Beth Glisson of Jackson, TN, and Johnnie-Lou (Bob) Getz of Cedar Grove, TN; and is fondly remembered as "Uncle James" by his nieces and nephews.
James was born in Nashville, GA, in 1936 and moved to Florida with his family in 1956. He served his country for 12 years and in three branches of the Military as a Marine, a Soldier, and an Airmen. James retired from Weatherking as an Electrical Draftsman in 2001. James enjoyed tinkering with electronics, reading anything that had words on it, including the newspaper from cover to cover every single day, and he always had a cup of coffee next to him. James never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with everyone he met.
The family's favorite memories are making PB&J's, grabbing our poles and going fishing at Moss Park on Sundays, making silly home movies, and doing silly skits. Charlee's fondest memories of her husband are square dancing with James, bowling with Wendell and Lois, playing cards, and being together as a family. Things we learned from our Dad, we must read directions from beginning to end, this includes firecrackers. By the time James finished reading the instructions, our cousins had fired them all off and there was nothing left for Shane. How to bait our hooks with a worm, that our heads were used for something besides growing hair, to stand up tall and know we are loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org/donate.
