James Kevin Higgins

James Kevin Higgins, Sr, age 78 ,was surrounded by loved ones when he peacefully passed away on September 28, 2020. Jim was born on December 1,1941 in Jersey City, NJ. A beloved husband, dedicated father, supportive brother, loving pop pop, and loyal friend.

Jim was an avid golfer, story teller, natural leader and always the life of the party. He modeled for us how to make the world a better place by showing us how random acts of kindness could brighten someone's day, and the power of a smile. A charismatic boss, he knew how to create a fun and competitive work environment. His manager meetings were not the typical 8 hour lecture. He liked to spend the first half of the day training and the other half on the golf course ending at the 19th hole. Jim served in the Army for 3 years in South Korea before starting his lifelong career at MetLife. He retired at age 52 as Senior Marketing Vice President of the South East territory.

Jim will be dearly missed by many especially his children, James, Joe, Jennifer, Jeff and daughter-in-law Barbara; and his granddaughters, Megan and Jamie. Jim will also be greatly missed by his sister Maureen and brother-in-law Jim Powers, Kathy and brother-in-law Jim Gilgenbach, Michael and sister-in-law Bonnie Higgins, Sidisin families, Spallone families and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was reunited with his beloved wife of 46 years, MaryLou Higgins, his parents, Charles Joseph Higgins and Johanna O'Brien Higgins; his brothers Thomas and Charles; and sister, Patricia.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Seminole Chapel, 335 E. State Rd 434, Longwood, with Pastor Tom Hensley officiating.

The family will receive friends and gather at the funeral home preceding the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
