James Martin Knoblauch, 71, Winter Park, Fl., passed into the arms of our Lord on December 30, 2021 after battling a long illness.
He is survived by his loving wife, his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth (Lazarchick) Knoblauch, of 51 years.
A brother Terry Knoblauch, husband of Lisa (Baddick) Knoblauch, Tamaqua, PA.
He is also survived by his son, James Samuel Knoblauch, husband of Janet (Kunkel), Nescopeck, PA, Daughters Michelle Lee Valentin, wife of John Valentin, Orlando, FL, and Christine Hall, wife of Chris Hall, N. Hollywood, CA and grandchildren, James Martin Knoblauch II, Cassandra Alberdeston, Nicole, Victoria, Samantha and Andrew Valentin, CJ and Charlotte Hall, and many nieces and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by parents, James and Marjorie (Klingaman) and brothers Donald Knoblauch and Larry Klingaman.
James and Elizabeth formerly resided in Alburtis, Center Valley, Allentown and Tamaqua, PA.
James was a retired Sales Rep for MetLife Insurance of 15 years in Allentown, PA for which he achieved many awards and Leaders Conferences.
During his fulfilling life, he had previously worked for Mack Trucks, Macungie, PA, Cementation Construction/Zinc CO, Center Valley, PA and Alpo Dog Food, Allentown PA.
James was an avid sportsman. He was President of the Winter Park 9 Men's Golf Association, winning several tournaments, and loved fishing and hunting for pheasants, turkeys and deer as an excellent marksman. He was an All State Basketball Athlete in 1968 at Tamaqua HS, PA. James was a Knee High football coach for 30 years both in Tamaqua, PA and Southern Lehigh Youth Football Association, Center Valley, PA winning many championships in his career.
James enjoyed playing cards and dominoes as a pastime. He won the Florida Amateur Poker Tournament and was sent to CA to play in the tournament with professional poker players and Hollywood celebrities.
James also loved music and dancing.
James was a veteran. He entered the U.S. Navy Reserves, Hazleton, PA shortly after high school.
James was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua, PA and STS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Winter Park, FL.
James was very personable and social, loved by all he knew. His grandchildren's voices and activities were his true delight. He will truly be missed by the many lives he touched and helped.
A brief viewing will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL, on January 8, 2022 from 8:30am to 9:30am followed by a funeral mass at STS. Peter & Paul Church, 5300 Old Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL, at 10:00am.
For those attending the funeral mass, the church is requesting those in attendance to wear masks at that location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to STS Peter & Paul Church and the Winter Park County Club and Golf Course.
