James L Mahoney

May 30, 1959 — December 22, 2022

James Leonard Mahoney Jr. passed away suddenly on December 22, 2022.

Jamie was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 30, 1959. At the tender age of 9, his parents moved he and his siblings to Fanwood, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. It was in this small town of 8,000 inhabitants that he found his soulmate, Maria, in 1980.

From then on, it was no longer just "Jamie." The moniker had forever changed to "Jamie and Maria." They married on May 28, 1988 and had their first child – Corey James – one year later on June 30, 1989.

Much like the Jamie we all know, he was more than willing to add anything to his plate if it meant a better future for his blossoming family. Jamie and Maria boldly decided to relocate to a suburb just outside Orlando, Florida in Lake Mary while Corey was still a baby.

Jamie became a father of two on April 22, 1993 with the birth of his daughter Marissa Noelle. He thrived on being a devoted father, husband and friend to many.

Jamie was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. He taught his daughter Marissa how to play softball and proudly served as head coach for several of her teams. He also shared a deep connection with his son Corey over their love of soccer and mutual appreciation for science and mathematics.

A perfect day for Jamie would be cooking for Maria, Corey and Marissa; catching up with friends and family; laying out by the pool with a beer in hand; classic rock tunes coming from the speakers; and a trip to his favorite happy hour.

From the smallest moments to the biggest gestures, Jamie will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife Maria, son Corey, daughter Marissa, six siblings – Debbie DeMaio (Dave); Ginny Reddington (Kevin); Teri Ure (Pete); Steven Mahoney (MariJo), Patrick Mahoney; Matthew Mahoney – and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Jamie's life will be held on February 4, 2023 from 2 to 5 p.m. at SourGlass Brewing. It is located at 480 S. Ronald Reagan Blvd., Suite 1004, Longwood, FL 32750.
