James R. Peterson

Peterson, James Russell "Pete"- James Russell "Pete" Peterson, our beloved husband, father, and Grandpa Pete with hundreds of stories, now lives eternally with his Savior.
Grandpa Pete's story begins July 1, 1919, when he was born in Gebo, WY to James Edward and Mary Wheeldon. When he was four years old, he came to Orlando where his father and uncles built craftsman style bungalows in the Lk Dot, W. Colonial area. He graduated from Orlando High School where he lettered in track and football. In October of 1939, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was sent to the Sequoia National Forest where he cleared land to build roads and monuments still in use today. He returned to Orlando to operate a fuel oil business until a job became available at Southern Bell Telephone Company. He was called to serve our country as an US Marine in October of 1942. Before leaving for duty overseas, he married Willamine Ann Kline August 12, 1943. After the war, he returned to his family in Orlando and to his job with "Ma Bell" retiring after 42 years. Retirement was spent caring for family, fishing and maintaining the Kline Grove property affectionately known as "the farm" located on Big Sand Lake. In 2004, Pete and Willie moved back to their home in town. Grandpa Pete's stories will continue to be told by his loving wife, Willamine, his children, Louanne Fussell, George R. Peterson and Diane (Doug) Stiglich; his grandchildren, Chaney (Heath) Stiglich, Kathryn (Walter) Sajdak, Edward Fussell, Michael (Sherri), Stephen (Kerri), Brannon (Ginny), James (Tara) Fussell, Andrew (Liza) Stiglich, and nine great grandchildren.
