James S. Deal of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana died on May 6, 2010. His mother, who preceded him in death, welcomes her son to the comfort and care of heaven. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, and coworker. Born in Greensburg, Indiana on September 10, 1946 to the family of Brayton and Miriam Deal, his brother Paul Deal, and his sister Margaret Patton, Jim challenged and blessed his family. He was married to Paulette A. Hasslinger in1969 in Rota, Spain. He was a father to Victoria (Todd) Coney, Indianapolis, Indiana; Rosemary (Christopher) Hollingsworth, Bloomington, Illinois; James (Nikki) Deal, Indianapolis, IN; and Michael (Jennifer) Deal. They will pass on the legacy of their dad's strength, courage, work-ethic, and determination to his 15 grandchildren. He developed each of those values and many more through his personal and professional relationships where he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from February 1966 until March 1975, including 2 tours in Vietnam; as a cook in Miller's Merry Manor, Community Hospital East, various restaurants, special events, and his church; as a maintenance technician at Irvington Presbyterian Church, Aaron York Quality Heating and Air Conditioning and most recently at Workforce, Central Florida. His quick wit, loyal friendship, and quiet strength are only a few of the qualities that his friends and family including nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews found endearing and will dearly miss. The family extends their deepest thanks and appreciation to the Mlachek family, Karen Willis, Barry Neece, Darleen Davis, Dr. Lee M. Zehngebot and all the doctors and nurses who supported Jim and his family through his long struggle with lung cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations offered to the Hospice of the Comforters of Central Florida who cared for him in his final days.
