James Sanford Shelton, age 80, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Orlando, FL. Jim was born September 3, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN to Charles and Elsie Shelton.
He moved to Hartford, CT at an early age and, at the age of 15, had his first date with Joy Nystrom, the only woman he would ever date. Jim and Joy were together for the rest of his life, celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary in June of 2020.
In 2002 Jim and Joy retired to Orlando, FL. Jim became very involved in spending time with family, volunteering as a Friend of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and various civic pursuits.
He is survived by his wife Joy Shelton of Orlando, FL, his son Scott and daughter in law Sherri Shelton of St. Cloud, Florida, his son Chris and daughter in law Perrin Shelton of Austin, TX, his four grandchildren Tyler, Brayden, Marguerite and Zach, his brother Robert Shelton of Dallas, TX and many other loving family members and friends.
There will not be a public ceremony at this time but we hope to have a celebration of Jim's life at a future date to be determined.
