James William Arthurs

James William Arthurs, age 77, Winter Park, died Sunday, April 1, after a
long illness and hospitalization. He was a devoted and loving husband,
father, grandfather and brother. Jim was born Aug. 23, 1929 in Uhrichsville, Ohio.
He was a 37 year resident of Florida. He graduated from Uhrichsville High
School and earned an associates degree in business and later served in the U.S. Army as a court reporter during the Korean
War. He was employed in the purchasing department at Warner & Swasey in
New Philadelphia, Ohio. He also served as the treasurer of the Warner &
Swasey Employees Federal Credit Union . He and his wife Carole moved to Cape
Coral, Fl. in 1970 where he was employed at Yoder Brothers in East Fort Myers
as a purchasing agent. They later moved to Poinciana and then to Kissimmee,
where he worked for Acme Conveyer in Sanford as purchasing manager and
later worked at Simplimatic Engineering as a purchasing manager, also in
Sanford. After his retirement from Simplimatic, he worked part time at
Publix Super Market in Kissimmee, FL. After moving to Winter Park, he worked part time at
Publix in Goldenrod. He was married to Carole Marks Arthurs, of Cambridge,
Ohio. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows
in a beautiful ceremony at Redeemer Lutheran Church. He is survived by his
wife, Carole; five adult children, James Scott Arthurs, Winter Park; Shawn
Arthurs, Ocoee; Andrew Arthurs, Kissimmee; Jamie Arthurs Snyder of Spruce
Pine, N.C. and Michael Kris Marks, Tuscon, Arizona.; 11 grandchildren,
Brandi and Brooke Arthurs of Wisconsin; James Arthurs, serving in the U.S.
Army in Germany; Jeffrey Arthurs, serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq; Jeremy
Arthurs of Albany, New York; Fallon Arthurs Crispen of Kentucky; Christen
Snyder of Spruce Pine, N.C.; Justin Snyder of Chapel Hill, North Carolina;
Aaron Snyder of Spruce Pine, N.C.; Holly Newsome of Leesburg, FL; 6

great-grand children, Peyton Arthurs of Albany, New York and Dylon and Alana
Arthurs, Germany, Clay, Cogan and Cashlynn Newsome of Leesburg, FL; a brother Alvin Arthurs, Uhrichsville, Ohio; a sister
Emily Crites, Columbus, Ohio; a cousin Ted Arthurs of Destin, FL. and
several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Timothy; parents, Elma
and William Arthurs of Uhrichsville, Ohio and sisters, Peg Fette and Sue
Morgan. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Winter Park, former
member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kissimmee and a charter member of All
Saints Lutheran Church in Orlando. He served on the Church Council at All
Saints and was the church treasurer. He was a member of the Winter Park Elks
Club. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3377 Aloma Ave. Winter Park
with Pastors Stan Reinemund and David Nixon officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service.
