Janice May Pepper

May 30, 1933 — January 9, 2025

Winter Park

With deep sorrow, the family of Janice “Gama” May Pepper announces her passing on January 9, 2025 at the age of 91. Janice was a resident of Winter Park, Florida. Janice passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and pets.

Janice was born on May 30, 1933 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Edward and Edith (Burroughs) LeClair. Janice graduated high school in Worcester and worked as a Dietician in Framingham for most of her life, then later became a full-time nanny, which she truly enjoyed until she retired in Florida.

Janice is survived by her loving daughters, Helen J. (Mongeon) Turcotte and her husband David of Princeton, Ma, and Anne “Annie” J. Smith and her husband Todd of Winter Park, Fl. Janice “Gama” leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter (on the way).

Janice is joined in rest by her loving husband and soul mate John H. Pepper, her mother and father, her oldest daughter Linda, son Ronald, grandson Toby, five sisters, three brothers, and her first husband, Ronald C. Mongeon.

Janice was known for being very generous, empathetic, loving and kind. She found great fulfillment in donating to charitable causes and volunteering throughout her life. She had a huge heart for children and animals. Her fondest charities were St. Jude’s and ASPCA.

Some would say Janice was a spit fire, quick witted and sassy. She enjoyed her life very much; she often spoke of the times spent at the Vermont home, boating and fishing. Camping in Maine with her grandchildren, the wonderful memories with “her Johnnie”. She loved her intertwined family. She enjoyed line dancing, watching game shows, swimming, puzzles, lottery tickets, live music, lemon meringue pie, action movies, butterflies, flowers, coffee, and an occasional martini. Janice had an uncanny ability to find a four-leaf clover anywhere. It was a thing! Gama was the glue of this family.

Janice firmly believed in the power of prayer. She always made time for her faith. She prayed morning and night without fail. She had a zest for life, a love for people, she loved to laugh, loved to smile and wanted to make others happy. She lived to serve others and to do God’s work. She lived a full life, overcoming many obstacles, remaining positive, strong, and gracious. Janice “Gama”, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. An amazing, one-of-a-kind woman whom we will always look up to and admire.

Whenever she would say goodbye, she would always say… “May God be with you and keep you safe” and you felt it. Mom, nothing compares to you. “May God be with you and keep you safe!”
