Mrs. Janyce M. Fortier, 78, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Janyce was born on May 5, 1937 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to parents Anthony Misch and Hattie Latka Misch.
Janyce loved spending her time volunteering with the youth group and in the office at her home parish of Blessed Trinity. She enjoyed nothing more than playing hostess to her grandchildren and their friends. She loved people in general and never met a stranger. Her constant smile and compassion are going to be greatly missed.
Janyce was the treasured mother of Sheila (Geoff) Hughes and Sharon Fortier and the beloved grandmother (or Dabbie, as she was affectionately nicknamed) to Amber Fortier, Robbie (Nicole) Hughes, Katie Hughes, and Janyce Bobbitt. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 45 years, Robert Fortier.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Orlando. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery.
In her last years of life, Janyce suffered from Vascular Dementia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alz.org/join_the_cause_donate.asp) to continue research for these terrible diseases.
