Jeraldine Fitch

January 13, 1927 — April 30, 2019

Jeraldine "Jeri" (Whitmore) Fitch, a longtime resident of Orlando, passed away on April 30, 2019 at the age of 92.

Jeri was born on January 13, 1927, the sixth child and third daughter of the 10 children of Lewis Vinson Whitmore (1883-1946), and Phoebe Ann (Emeigh) Whitmore (1890-1967) of Croswell, Michigan. Jeri attended grade school in Croswell Michigan. In 1948, she married her beloved husband of 54 years, Nixon Oliver "Nick" Fitch of Attica, Michigan. The two made the Orlando area their permanent home since the late 1950's.

Born to this union were their son James Lee (1949) and daughter Janis Ann (1958), the both of them born near extended family members while visiting in Michigan.

Jeri was a grandma to all, there was never a child that was a stranger. She loved growing flowers with her green thumb, especially roses and orchids. She was amazing with the sewing machine, and kept us all clothed from birth to wedding.

She is survived by her son, James Fitch and her daughter-in-law, Connie Fitch; grandchildren Sherri Jewer and husband Greg Jewer, Jamie Allen and husband Eric Allen, John Hilton along with Shane Ochs; great-grandchildren Nicole Vaughn, Justin Allen, Amber Allen, Samantha Skaggs; great-great grandkids Nolan and Valerie Skaggs; extended family, Linda and Jimmy Ochs, Joy Merryman, Amanda and Mathew Wagner; along with four nephews and two nieces from her extended Whitmore and Reynolds families in Michigan; and beloved caregiver, Stephanie Peardon.

She was predeceased in death by her husband, Nick; her much-loved daughter Janis; both her parents; and all but one of her nine siblings, her youngest brother, Frederick "Fritz" Whitmore, of rural Lexington, Michigan.

A celebration of Jeraldine's life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sherri's home in Orlando. Please contact the family directly for more information.

In lieu of flowers, contributions towards Jeraldine's celebration in the form of monetary considerations or food, would be greatly appreciated.
