Jerry P. Nowell

Nowell, Jerry P., age 73 of Orlando, passed away Thursday, November 11. He was born in Humboldt, TN on January 3, 1937. He graduated from Peabody High School, Trenton, TN and went on to Union University, Jackson, TN and Memphis State University, Memphis, TN where he earned a Master's Degree. Mr. Nowell taught in Tennessee for 10 years and then worked for Orange County Schools for over 30 years. He began the first band at Conway Middle School, worked at Winter Park, Oak Ridge,Winter Park Community School and in Alternative Education. Jerry loved music. He played with the Jimmy Dorsey Band as well as other bands in the area and was co-founder of the VFW Post 2093 Concert Band.

Mr. Nowell was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce A. Nowell, Sr. and Pearl Elizabeth Nowell (nee Phillips); brother, Bruce Nowell, Jr.; sister-in-law, Mary Hammond Nowell; nieces, Mary Beth Hamilton and Amy Nowell.

He is survived by his wife Paula; children, Millie Duke (David), Mark L. Nowell, Harold Cates (Sonia) and Kimberly Caso (Diego); grandchildren, Natalie Duke, Anna Duke, James Duke, Talia Caso, Diego Caso and Nicolas Caso; sister, Sybil Hamilton; nieces Linda Postiglione (Danny), Karen Clark (Warlick); nephews, Steve Hamilton (Anita) and Bruce Nowell III.

Memorial services will be held at Park Lake Presbyterian Church, Monday November 15, at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Lake Presbyterian Church, 309 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32801 or Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Pkwy. Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
