Joan P. Burchfield

Joan P. Burchfield, 83, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Montgomery, PA, died Sunday, February 28, 2016. She was born on December 23, 1932 in Picture Rocks, PA to parents George E. Parsons and Anna S. Messner.

Joan was a graduate of Montgomery Area High School Class of 1950, and attended Lock Haven State College. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Muncy, PA chapter.

She was a homemaker who loved reading and word puzzles. After her husband's death, her dog "Punky" was her beloved companion. She looked forward to family gatherings which were joyous occasions for her as the family grew.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John R. Burchfield, Sr. who died March 15, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George E. Parsons, Jr. of Arizona. She is survived by two sons, William R. II and wife Cherie of Orlando, and John R. Jr. of Cocoa, FL; one daughter, Cheryl A. Burchfield of Titusville, FL; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery, PA at a later date.
