Joan Richey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 92 on August 4th, 2023. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on September 21st, 1931, and her remarkable journey touched the lives of many.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Carole (Bill) and Connie (Gordon), who were a source of joy and pride in her life. She was a cherished grandmother to Lisa, Allison, John, and Jennifer, each carrying forward her legacy of love and warmth. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack, who was her partner in life's adventures until he passed away seven years ago. Their enduring love story continues to inspire those who knew them. Joan also shared a special bond with her younger sister, June, who continues to honor her memory.
Joan was a woman of many passions. Her love for travel, fishing, and camping took her to the most beautiful corners of the world, creating countless memories with her family.
A creative spirit, Joan was an active member of her bunko group for years, where much laughter and fun were had. Her artistic talents shone through in her passion for arts and crafts, leaving behind beautiful creations that will be cherished by her loved ones.
During her final years, Joan received exceptional care and support from the dedicated staff at Island Lake Nursing Home. Their unwavering compassion and commitment provided comfort and solace to her and her family. The family is immensely grateful for their kindness and professionalism. In addition, the family extends heartfelt appreciation to Vitas hospice nurses, Joan and Christine, who went above and beyond in providing comfort, care, and companionship during Joan's journey.
