Joanne Elizabeth Stassen
of West St. Paul, Minnesota and Orlando, Florida
November 26, 1930 – April 11, 2018
You may honor Joanne's memory by wearing any shade of purple if you would like.
Caring mother of Lynn and husband Robert Koehn
Treasured "Nana" of Jeremy William Koehn
Appreciated aunt of her nieces and nephews
Memorable and special person to friends and family
Best known for her smile and for wearing purple, Joanne enjoyed people, beauty and life. She especially enjoyed music and singing harmony, purple, the mountains and the ocean – calling the Pacific "her" ocean.
In her 48 years of marriage to Bill, they spent 15 of them traveling and living fulltime in their fifth-wheel RV. A legal secretary by profession, she knew & loved words, spelling and grammar and used shorthand for 70 years! Whether attorneys, corporate executives or Minnesota lawmakers, she made her bosses look good.
Her 87 years included 33 years of singing in the church choir, photography, serving with the Fidelity Club women at church, square dancing and sewing. These were accomplished while loving and rearing her son and daughter, very close in age but exceedingly different in most other ways.
All through her life, she enjoyed dinner out, old movies - particularly musicals, lobster and good dark chocolate, clipping news articles for her daughter, and talking with her hands.
Most of all, she loved her family and friends –you could see it in her smile, her concern for others and her great sense of humor!
Preceded in death by husband William H., son William G., grandson William A. and sister Rosemary Leibl Brossoit.
