Mr. John Aden Flores, 83 of Orlando passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011. He was born on October 25, 1927 in New York, New York to Valentin Flores and Paula Clemente Flores. Mr. Flores was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.
John was born to immigrants from Puerto Rico. He worked hard to help his family, shining shoes in New York City's subway system. He completed the 9th grade and enlisted in the Navy. He became a father at the age of 20 and worked hard to take his wife and his children out of the poverty both John and Gloria were born into.
John is a seen as a hero by all of his family. If it were not for him and his hard work and dedication not one of his children, grandchildren or wife would have survived. His generosity and tenacity to persevere has enabled so many to improve their lifestyles. He had given financially and emotionally. He worked so hard physically and not once complained. One of his favorite sayings was "sharing is caring!" And he lived by that motto. He loved to putter around the house and would fix anything! He was extremely crafty with his hands and loved to build things. And didn't want to throw anything out! He would find a use for everything. He loved salvaging all things and felt that there was redemtion in everyone. He was always so helpful. Willing to do anything for anyone. John had a great passion for all Latin music. Once the beat started his hands, feet, head and whole body got to moving! He was called rubber legs because of his wonderful dancing abilities. He was a great dancer, but sometimes your toes got in the way of his dancing feet!! Any family event, concert or recital he was always there. Even the smallest acheivement was the biggest and greates in his eyes. He attended church regularly and was a spiritual man. We know he is in Heaven with his family and they are having the biggest and grandest celebration for his life. So shed no tears, just smile and remember his love for life and celebrate with us. Because his rubber legs are dancing away in Heaven right now!
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Flores; sons, John Flores, Jr. and Paul Flores; daughter, Yvonne Montalvo; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
