John Andrew Sink

John Andrew Sink, age 68, of Longwood, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 4, 2014. The son of Samuel Andrew and Phyllis Jean (Baker) Sink, John was born August 5,1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana. John enjoyed life to the fullest, sharing his talents with work and community all while raising a wonderful family with his wife and five children.

He graduated High School in 1964 in Martinsville, Indiana, and was a member Capleville United Methodist Church. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was discharged honorably as a disabled veteran. He then graduated from Modern Gun Repair School in Scottsdale Az. Finishing school in Arizona, he went on to work for the United States Government as an Architect Engineer Sr. by the U.S. Postal Service for thirty four years. While working he became involved with his community by serving as past commander of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. He was also a lifelong member of the American Legion, VFW, NRA, the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force as well as other history clubs.

John will be lovingly remembered by his family that includes his wife of forty one years, Sandra Harris Sink; his daughter Brenna LaForest (Mike) of Tempe AZ; Sons Darrin (Jodi)of Sanford, Jason of Longwood, Alan of Deltona and
John II (Jenn) of Deltona; granddaughters Tiffany Johnson of Memphis, TN, Sarah Sink of Staunton,VA.and Cyrena Sink of Deltona; grandsons Kameron Sink of Columbus, OH., Braden LaForest of Tempe, AZ.,David Sink of Sanford and Luke Sink of Deltona; step-grandsons Nick and Blake Bunting of Deltona.

His survivors include four brothers in law, C.B. (Donna) Harris and Rayburn (Elizabeth) Harris of Staunton, VA, Bill (Beth) Harris of Afton, VA and Leland (Julie) Harris of Plattsburg, MO. John is also survived by a number of cousins, including Jane Cassetty of Bradenton, FL, Margaret Irvington of Kokomo, IN and Dan Broyer of Martinsville, IN as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no graveside services as John cremated remains will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request you contribute a toy to the "Toys for Tots" Campaign in his honor/name. John was active for the last 20 year plus in the "Toys for Tots" program which had great meaning to him. Newcomer Funeral Home is providing the receptacle for these contributions.
