John A. Trussler Sr., a resident of Orlando for almost 50 years passed away on Saturday, April 21st, just one day shy of his 95th birthday. He will be missed greatly by his family, his neighbors and his many friends around the globe. He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1917 and moved to Florida when he was a toddler, and lived and worked in the family bakery business in Cocoa, Titusville and Jacksonville. After graduating from Andrew Jackson Sr. High School, he worked in Banking until WWII. During WWII he became a Master Sargent in the Army Intelligence based in Alaska.
Following his military service he became a businessman in the food industry managing restaurants then moving into Institutional Food Sales. He has been a passionate Gator fan, and is known in the neighborhood as the "Mayor of Jewel Shores" subdivision. He gave generously to his neighbors and they gave generously to him.
He is survived by his sons and their wives, Stephen A. Trussler (Wilma Northcutt Trussler) , John A. Trussler Jr. (Cyndee Bone Trussler), two grandsons and their wives Jay M. Trussler (Leslie Henley Trussler) and Jon S. Trussler (Kate Edwards Trussler) and four great-grand sons Nick, Jake, Jett & Tripp. He was preceded in death his wives Laura Seward Trussler and Clarice McAlister Trussler, his parents and sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 25th at the Newcomer Orlando Funeral Home, 895 South Goldenrod Road, Orlando 32822 (407) 277-4227. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 and the Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services with Military Honors will be in Jacksonville, Fl, at the Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., on Thursday, April 26th
at 1:00 p.m.
