John Richard Borys passed away peacefully at age 93 on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. Originally from Utica, New York, John enlisted in the Army where he served in World War II as an agent in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Philippine Islands. After his service , John studied at Albany Law School where he became a New York State Attorney and later went on to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Hobbs, New Mexico. It is here where he met the love of his life, Josephine, of 62 years.
Both John and Josephine relocated to Washington D.C.in 1954, as he was asked to lead special cases in the FBI Counterintelligence Division. There he remained until his retirement in 1976 with over 25 years of service. John further went to work for the Fairfax County Sheriffs office in Virginia to continuing practicing his love of law.
In 1999, John and Josephine relocated to Debary, Florida to be with their only daughter, Barbara, son in law Colin, and their two granddaughters , Christina and Nicole. They both became members of St. Ann's Catholic Church and were active members within the Knights of Columbus. In 2012, Joh and Josephine moved to Winter Springs, Florida, where they resided closer to family in their ageing years.
John was an avid lover of the outdoors and exercise, which included running, tennis, horse racing and the beach. He was a local member of the Oviedo YCMA until the age of 91.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Camilla, his four siblings, Henry, Roman, Jess and Isabel. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine. He is survived by his daughter , Barbara Morgan, 59.
John and Josephine will be interred in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth Florida where John will receive Military Honors.
