John W. Doyle, 86, went home to the Lord November 3rd, 2016. John was born Dec. 6th, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the Coast Guard in 1947 and was awarded a Gold Lifesaving Medal when at extreme peril and risk of life, he saved one of two civilians who capsized their boat. After his discharge in 1950, he went to work for Bell Aerospace, Niagara Falls, NY specializing in Quality Assurance on the X1A and X2 Rocket Aircraft, VERTOL and the Rascal Missile. In 1957 he moved to Florida where he worked for Martin Company as the Project Administrator on the Pershing Missile program. Following, in 1965, he worked for Sun Engineering Inc., St. Petersburg, FL as Vice President of the Electronics Division. In 1966 John began a dedicated career with NASA at Kennedy Space Center. While there he supported NASA manned programs Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, SOYUZ, Space Shuttle and International Space Station. After an inspiring career in aerospace John retired in June 1984. Early in his career, while living in New York, John met his wife Marjorie, the love of his life, and they were married in 1960. Always together, John now devoted his time to helping his wife with their Floral/Bridal business in Orlando. During his extraordinary life, John became a private pilot and loved flying his plane. He was also an avid scuba diver and boat captain who frequently took trips with family and friends to the Bahamas and Florida Keys. He was particularly fond of the cruising lifestyle and spent many years cruising with his wife. John was also a deeply religious man and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He devoted as much effort and energy to his faith as he did his professional life. John could always be counted on to help a family member or friend in need. John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice Doyle, his brother Phillip, as well as his son Donald. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Doyle of Titusville, FL, daughter Linda and her husband Carl Reich of Winter Park, FL, his son John and his wife Debbie of Titusville, FL and daughter Colleen and her husband Dennis Wood of Tavares, FL. He is also survived by his sister Mary and her husband Karl Landes of St. Petersburg, FL and sister in law Dorothy Doyle of Largo, FL. In addition, John had 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Services will be held Saturday Nov. 19th at 10 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822.
