John Maurice Green

John Maurice Green, also lovingly known as "Moe', went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2021, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was born to the late John Leonard Green and Ethel Mae Green-Martin on August 8, 1968, in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

John Maurice is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandmother, Mary Edna Clayton; Maternal Grandmother Mary Louise Bobo; Father and his Hero, John Leonard Green; Uncle Charles Tyrone Green; Uncle Samuel Junior Hunter; Uncle Willie Joe Hunter; Great-Uncles Forest Montgomery; Willie Ed Montgomery (Rose Montgomery); James Montgomery; and Joe L. Montgomery; and his Great-Aunts Loretta Montgomery, Bennie Lee Johnson, and Mary Alice Montgomery.

John Maurice leaves behind a doting and devoted mother, Ethel Green-Martin and Step-Father James A. Martin; his loving brother, Mickel Carlos Green; Sister-in-Law Linmary Green; sister, Tawanna Campbell; and aunts, Betty White, Nettie Ball, Linda Green, Hilda Green, Delores Greene, Cecilia Smith, Betty Henry, Elsie Walker, and Uncle Joseph William "JR" Clinton.

John Maurice was the first born son of John Leonard, and he made sure everyone knew it. He was very proud to be named after his Hero and reminded Mickel often of this fact.

John Maurice was a graduate of the H. Winship Wheatley Special Education Center class of 1989, where he earned his High School Diploma. He was very proud of this honor. Making sure to tell people as often as possible, "I ain't no fool, I went to school," as noted by his love of rhyme.

His childhood was filled with adventures with his younger brother Mickel who would never leave his side. His cousins Karen "DeeDee" Badger, Dan Smith, Walter Montgomery, and Rhonda Greene-Justice were never far behind. He had cousins to spare, too many to name. But they were all near and dear to his heart.

He is survived by eight nieces and nephews. All of which are named here in order from eldest to youngest: Cindoria Denard, James E. Carter IV, Jasmine Eboni Green, Shahara Green, Emily Green, Tara A. Green, Bria K. Campbell, and Cesar A. Rey. As well as grandnieces and nephews: Michael Walker, Aries Mykel Green, Emmanuel Malachi Autridge, Jaelle Armoni Rose Autridge, Natalie Adrienne Roberson, Aubrey Nicole Green, Deandra Smith, and Emily Reniya Green. Through Cindoria he gained a great nephew-in-law, Reshard Denard.

When in his presence, you would experience two things for certain: his love for music and rhyme, and his jokes. Not a moment passed where John Maurice wasn't singing a song. His favorites were Motown Classics, Christmas Motown songs, and Gospel. His youthful and jovial nature was contagious. You'd soon be singing that tune on your own. Followed by the usual 'Moe-isms' like… "Whatever!" "Don't be a cry baby!" "Boy plays on Tarzan, and cheetah quit!" "I ain't no fool, I went to school!" "Get out of here!" "No, you ain't gonna take my stuff!"

He fought through many health adversities in his life. Having been born with Hypocephylis which caused Cerebral Palsy, which then led to muscular weakness experienced by Multiple Sclerosis. The doctors said he wouldn't live past 16. BUT GOD! He's seen him through a full, long, plentiful, and faithful 52 years of life. His spontaneous and loving personality will surely be missed at family gatherings. Always the one to liven up the room with his antics and tales, he was the life of the party. As was his adamant expression of the foods and drinks he refused to have (usually the healthy stuff). He'd rather have indulged in fast food favorites like burgers, fries, fried chicken, and deviled eggs.

He was cared for lovingly and unconditionally by his caretakers, Rose Williams, Chevas Gray, and Shawnte Fisher.

Family surrounded him, both near and far. Aunt Eula Mae Anderson and Lewis Samuel Montgomery, Evelyn Montgomery, Ethel English; Uncle Robert "John" Jefferies, Aunt Annie Jefferies, and the Jefferies cousins; Adopted Aunt Veronica Tigner, Uncle Quenton Fretwell, and Edward Tigner who along with John Leonard served as his father figures.

The family will have a celebration of life service at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, on April 8, 2021, at 11am, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church is located at 412 East Kennedy Blvd, Eatonville, Florida, 32751. Viewing at the church will be from 10am to 11am. With internment to follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery for a private burial ceremony in honor of his beloved father and Veteran, John Leonard Green. This will be his final resting place.
