It is with profound sadness, but abundant gratitude for a life well-lived, that the Hussey Family must announce the passing of their patriarch, John Higgins Hussey on August 1st, 2020. John began his life in Windsor, Ontario on June 28, 1932, one of 8 children born to Lillian (Higgins) and Emmett Hussey. He lived most of his life in the Detroit, Michigan area, leaving an indelible mark on those he met and served throughout his career as a real estate broker, business leader, active member of the Catholic Church, volunteer, mentor, friend, father, and beacon of faith. He later spent many years in Orlando, Florida, leaving his legacy of kindness, strong work ethic, and life of faith there as well. He was a quiet, kind and sweet man, devoted to his children. He had a special fondness for babies! He was married to his beloved wife, Mary Jeanne (Malchow) for 66 years, and together they gave birth to, and raised, eight children. John and Mary Jeanne were well known for their love of dogs and cats, and their ancestral roots of Ireland.
John is survived by his children, daughter Laura (Michael) Laughner, Colleen McKeague, John (Karen) Hussey, Kayte Snodgrass, Timothy (Julie) Hussey, Kevin (Mary) Hussey, and Eileen (James) Scherff. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Cristin, Patrick, Ian, Sarah, Meghan, Leeanne, and Kyle, and great-grandchildren Delaney, Declan, Victoria, Cole, Hanna, and Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jeanne; son Patrick Hussey; and grandson Bryan Dougherty; his brothers Phillip, Paul, Brian, Terry, and Kevin, and sisters Eileen and Nancy; and parents Lillian and Emmett.
