John "Jack" Russell MacDowell Jr., age 76, of Oviedo, Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Russell MacDowell, Sr. and Betty Richwine MacDowell.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Cooperrider-MacDowell, daughter, Jennifer Anne Lusardi, son, John "Rusty" Russell MacDowell, III, daughter, Patricia Jean MacDowell-Moreira, grandchildren, Brennan, Cameron, Jaxson, and Cierra, and brother, Charles Frederick MacDowell.
Jack grew up in Columbus, Ohio where he attended OSU, and married his high school sweetheart. He loved OSU football and had many hobbies such as building airplanes, boats, and trains. He was an avid reader and a financial guru. He always put family first and had a strong Christian faith. He was very involved in the community and one of the founders of the Winter Park Meridian Club who gave scholarships to high school athletes. He had an intelligent wit that will be missed among his dear friends. We always described our dad as a Papa Bear who protected his cubs, but had a soft spot for his family, friends, and pets. He will be missed every day, but his memories will live in our hearts forever. We will see you again dad in Heaven and this time for eternally.
Visitation is Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 10 am to 11:15 am with a celebration of life memorial service starting at 11:15 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel).
Pastor Josh Dean is officiating.
Guests are also welcome to join the family at 7pm in a sunset Gaelic send off with lanterns and fireworks over the lake, desserts, and drinks at Jack and Donna's residence in Oviedo.
