After a courageous battle with cancer, John Paul Kittrell, passed away on May 21, 2019.
Born on December 23, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama, John was the son of Ferrall and Thelma Kittrell. He was raised in Quincy, FL and joined the United States Air Force in 1965 after graduation from Quincy High School. During his years of service in the Air Force, he served on year in Vietnam and finished his four years at McCoy Air Base in Orlando. After marrying his wife, Sarah Pierce Kittrell, in 1969, they returned to Orlando where John graduated from Valencia Jr. College and attended FIT (UCF). For thirty years, John worked as an outside salesman for Thomas Lumber Company retiring in 2007. He enjoyed attending athletic events at Boone High School and served as the scorekeeper for the varsity men's basketball team for many years. He was a member of Conway United Methodist Church.
John is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Neal. He is survived by his wife Sarah, his daughter Sarah Pendleton (Cory) Debary, Florida, grandson Cody Kittrell, and sister Sue Johansen (Wayne) Kingwood, Texas as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, June 8 at Conway United Methodist Church at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Boone High School's Foundation or the Boone Athletic Hall of Fame.
