John Ronald Kuhns

March 31, 1954 — March 10, 2024

John Ronald Kuhns, 69, of Oviedo, Florida, died on March 10, 2024. He was a funny, generous, and kind-hearted man who will be deeply missed.

John was born in Ellwood City in 1954 to Lawrence and Bonalyn Kuhns. He attended Osceola High School before studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Central Florida. After graduating, he met Jana who became his wife of 43 years. They welcomed two children, Amanda Welch and Jason Kuhns, who meant the world to him.

John worked as a Senior Staff Engineer for over 20 years at Lockheed Martin and 17 years at Synopsys, but his favorite role was that of grandfather. He cherished his grandsons—James, Ethan, and Grant Welch and Luca and Liam Kuhns—and loved showing them things to be curious about. In retirement, John and Jana also enjoyed traveling, playing with their dog, and taking walks along the Seminole Trail. John had a quick laugh and a love for the outdoors and fishing that his family will always remember.

John is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Susan Kuhns Scoville and Gary Kuhns, their spouses James Scoville and Kristi Smith Canty, son-in-law Stephen Welch, daughter-in-law Fernanda Ruiz Kuhns, and his extended family and friends.

Services celebrating John's memory will be held at Ft. Mellon Park in Sanford on March 30th from 10am-2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida.
