John Richard Lauch, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Maitland, Florida, after battling Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, June Lauch, of Altamonte Springs, Florida. John and June called Charlotte, North Carolina home for over 25 years and moved to Central Florida in 2015 to be closer to family.
His surviving family includes two daughters, Judy(Richard) Phillips, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Wendy Lauch, of Manassas, Virginia; Three step-children, Cindy(Don) Soule of Aiken, South Carolina, Mark(Connie) Robey of Edgewood, Maryland, and Debbie(Lon) Santora, of Orlando, Florida; Three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, and thirteen step-great grandchildren. Mr. Lauch was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Lauch, his sister, Hazel Lauch Hofschneider, his son Michael John Lauch, his great grandson, Evan Oliver Phillips, and his granddaughter, Holly Phillips Smith.
Born on July 7, 1934, in Rochester, New York, he graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served for 21 years and retired. He was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was the recipient of several honorable service medals. After retiring from the Marines, he and his wife relocated to Charlotte and called that home for 25 years. . He loved trains and enjoyed building models and layouts. He also loved his fur babies, Heidi, Cassie and Jake.
Mr. Lauch will be interred 11am Monday February 25, 2019 at the Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida, with full military honors.
A memorial service will be held at Orlando Grace Church, 872 Maitland Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701 on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 3:00pm. A reception will follow.
John was a kind and caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
