John Everett Miller, age 79, of Orlando, FL passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
He was born on September 15, 1937 in Portage, PA to his late father, John Everett Miller, and mother, Alice Virginia Luther. John is also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jane Miller; grandson, Zachary T. Hardin; and sister, Clara Brennen.
He is survived by his children, Mary Jo Kilburn (Chris), Suzanne M. Colson (Doug), and John Everett Miller III; grandchildren, Jacob C. Kilburn, Peyton J. Kilburn, Tyler D. Colson, Blair M. Colson, Zachary T. Miller, Leah J. Miller; and sister, Janet Cook.
John was an engineer, he retired from the Space Center in Manufacturing. He had a knack for problem solving and designed the tool to measure the inside circumference of the Space Shuttle booster. He had a passion for the Great Outdoors and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Best of all, John had a love for God, his family and our country. He loved serving others, an US Army veteran, a scout master, life member of the NRA, veteran Mason and volunteer.
John ran PEN (Professional Employment Network) to help others develop skills to gain employment. He also served as president of the Lake Conway Woods homeowners association. His smile was infectious and he was liked by everyone.
Visitation is Friday, June 16, 2017 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm with funeral services starting at 5:00 pm at Reformation Lutheran Church, 800 E. Michigan Street, Orlando, Florida 32806.
Arrangements are by the Newcomer Funeral Home (East Orlando Chapel).
