John Musee of Altamonte Springs, FL passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side on September 6th, 2016 at the age of 85, after a long fight with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Martha; son Douglas and wife Bekki; grandchildren Amber, Michele, Sheyanne, Karver and Samantha; great-grandchildren Logan and Joanna; sisters JoAnn Tramonte, Stevie Fox, and Wanda Hjelmquist; brothers Burke Horoschak and Kenny Musee; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Saley Musee; son John Michael "Mike" Musee; daughter Deborah Lynn Musee; brothers Butch Musee and Nick Horoschak; sister Sally Ann Davis.
Born October 20th, 1930 in Harrisburg, PA, he spent his childhood in Akron, OH. In 1950, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for 4 years, including a deployment in the Korean War, as a Senior Jet Aircraft Mechanic. In his 4 years of service he advanced to Staff Sergeant, and received several medals of accomplishment.
John and Martha married in Akron, OH on December 13, 1952. They moved to Florida in 1960 with two children, Deborah, age 5, and Mike, age 4. Nine years later, they were blessed with their third child, Douglas. John spent the majority of his career as an automotive mechanic at the Naval Training Center in Orlando, FL, until his retirement in 1990. In his free time, John loved flea marketing and going to garage sales, hunting down bargains and finding gifts for his family. John and Martha enjoyed going to the beach, boating and scuba diving. John was also an avid photographer.
During their retirement years, John and Martha loved annual visits to Sanibel Island, where they relaxed on the beach, reflected on their wonderful life together, and how proud he was of their family. They bowled in senior leagues for years, and also participated in the Golden Age Games in Sanford, FL. John and Martha were able to sail on many relaxing Disney cruises, visiting islands in the eastern and western Caribbean. They loved hosting family gatherings at their house to celebrate birthdays and holidays, where there was never a shortage of food, fun, and laughter.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2014, John was determined to fight the illness, and always remained positive and strong through the tough times. With Martha, their dog, Sage, and his family and friends all supporting him, he never gave up, and was able to enjoy life and remain close with his family and friends.
