Johnny Mccray

June 5, 1953 — September 10, 2014

Johnny McCray was born June 6, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCray. The Family later moved to Perry Florida, afterwards the family settled in Immokalee Florida where he attended Immokalee Public Schools. The family united with the Lily Bass Church under the leadership of Mother Rosetta Hooks. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army, after serving in the Vietnam War.

Johnny graduated from Mississippi State University, and moved to TX where he attended Texas College, in Tyler TX., where he received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting. There he pledged his beloved KAPPA ALPHA PSI fraternity. (A very proud "Nupe")

He returned to Florida and worked as an accountant at Robinson Accounting Firm, with his college roommate Maurice. As time moved on he Started Jan's Consultant Inc. an Home based Accounting Office.

Family and Church

In life he was married to Sara Steward, of Valdosta GA. He later married Carrie Bolden who preceded him in death.
After seventeen years he returned to Tyler TX., and he reunited with his present wife, Janis McCray, Feb. 17, 2000.
Brother McCray joined Zion Temple Church of Winter Park, Fl. The pastor and co-pastor were Rev. Samuel and Mildred Freeze. Where he and Janis faithfully served and taught Sunday school.
Finally Johnny and wife united with the Hope Church of Orlando under the Leadership of Bishop Allen Wiggins, where they both also served as Sunday school teachers.

Hobbies
The Kid in him liked collecting and flying model helicopters. Cooking for family and friends, he was happy on the many cruises with the XYZ Ministry of The Hope Church. He loved Chess and Bid wiz, although he enjoyed all these things his greatest joy was selling watermelons, although he gave away as many as he sold. His smiles brighten every time customers told him that his watermelons were the biggest and sweetest in Orlando.

Brother McCray aka our "Ben" leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Janis McCray, His Parents, Booker T. and Annie P. Mills of Immokalee Fl. Children; Victor McCray, Tammy Means, (Orlando Fl.), Tangela Hicks, (Eddie) of Cordell GA., Larraine Oliver, Kimberly Coleman, (Reginald). Delbert Oliver, (Regina), all of Tyler TX. Amanda Evans of Fort Meyers, Telisha Edmonds (Timothy), James Bolden (Rachel), Atlanta GA. Tony Brown (Enez), Gainesville Fl. Vermella Steward, and, Jessie Steward, Valdosta, GA.
He also leaves two brothers, Fred McCray, (Debora) Gainesville FL., Eugene Jones Sr. Immokalee FL. a sister, Betty Short, (John) Immokalee FL.., Auntie Rosa Oliver, and Uncle Alexander Hawkins, both of Immokalee Fl... Sister -in- laws Hazel Jackson, (Dallas TX.), Eva Sweet Vallejo CA Nova Alexander, Foster City, CA. and brother -in- law Charles Waters, Tyler TX.
