Dave Duncan went to be with the Lord on April 21st after a five year battle with cancer. In his last weeks, he was surrounded by his family and friends who showed him much love and support.
Dave was born in Charlotte, NC. on April 5th, 1956 to John and Adele ( Morrison) Duncan who brought him up with strong Christian values. In his early years, his family moved a lot living in various states on the east coast before finally settling in Newport Beach, CA. Dave graduated college from Biola University with a degree in Christian Education.
His first professional career was a salesmen for Swift Meats which brought to Florida where he met and married Barby Madsen. They had a beautiful daughter Cody Elizabeth Duncan in 1986. Dave went on to work at Youth for Christ where he worked with high school students. This was a job that he enjoyed very much and felt like he was making a difference in the lives of the students he worked with.
Several years later, Dave and Barby divorced. Dave met Elise Rowe at Northland Church in 1991 by mutual friends. They married 8 months later and both began working for the Charles J. Givens' Organization. When their handsome son Cory Rowe Duncan was born in 1995, Dave and Elise moved into Elise's condo and they both managed the property for 13 years.
After their divorce, Dave went on to work at various jobs in Orlando. He ended his career working for Orlando Health as a currier. During Dave's battle with cancer, he had the opportunity to reunite with many old friends and to make some new ones as a volunteer at Northland, A Church Distributed.
Dave enjoyed interacting with people, people watching and telling stories to his children. His favorite pass time was fishing.
Dave is survived by his children Cody and Cory Duncan; his sisters Juli Korneychuk and Leslye Miyashiro (Kent); 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
