He was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He was a retired medical doctor.
Jose is survived by his wife Maria De La Cruz, daughters, Monica C. Flores and Myriam I. Solorzano, sons, Luis A. De La Cruz and Carlos X. De La Cruz; nine grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
