Jose L. Rivera

Jose L. Rivera, 83 years old, graduated to heaven on December 26th, 2024 in Foley, Alabama while visiting family which he loved to do. His passing was unexpected and sudden, yet that morning he was joyful and we know that now he is fully healed and experiencing a greater joy than we can comprehend. Jose was born November 28, 1941 in Coamo, Puerto Rico where he spent most of his childhood. He then moved to Chicago, Illinois where he spent most of his adult life before moving to Orlando, Florida. It is here in Orlando that he met Josefina who would become his wife for 24 wonderful years. 

Jose loved to serve. He retired from public transportation, as a Lynx bus driver, where he loved to interact with people. He loved to tell people about his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Retirement was just the beginning for these two lovebirds to share their passion for evangelism. As an Associate Pastor, Jose and Josie travelled the world with their Senior Pastor and others to share the love of Christ.

Jose also loved to find broken things he would try to repair so he could give them away to someone in need. Jose had the heart of a farmer, he was always planting seeds and found enjoyment in growing new plants. He would always purchase a new Bible, because, “he needed one”, knowing the whole time he was going to give it away. Jose loved to preach, teach, live and give the gospel to anyone anytime anywhere he was able to.

 Those surviving Jose: Wife, Josefina Rivera; Siblings: Mike Rivera(Rosa), Margie Rivera Aquino(Lao), George Rivera; Children: Mark Rivera, Renee Rivera, Wilton “Willie” Rivera, Judy Borrero, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Step Children: Maria Parsons(Mark), Juan Alba(Laurie), Gilbert Alba(Kristel), 10 grandchildren and 5 great children.

Jose is preceded in death by his Stepson, Victor Alba and  grandson, Caleb Parsons.
