They had three of their four children in Fomento, Cuba. They embarked on their journey to the USA one at a time. First her husband in 1959, then in 1960 she left Cuba painfully leaving behind her three children with her mother Dominga Delgado. They reunited with their family in 1961 and made New Jersey their home. In 1963 the lord blessed them with their forth child, and together they raised their four children Rafael Abreu JR, Rosario Gomez, Jose Abreu, and Lourdes Machado.
Josefa was a loving wife, devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to read, write, crochet and knit. Her biggest pride and joy were her children. She loved and treasured all of her eight grandchildren, and her 17 great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing games, reading and telling stories to her great grandchildren. She was loved by all of them and they all lovingly called her Abuela.
She was a loyal, loving, caring friend always concerned for everyone's well being.
On behalf of our entire family thank you all for demonstrating your love for our mother, and Abuela.
