Joseph William Dilbert, Jr
12 September, 1949 – 22 July 2022
Joseph leaves his wife of 53 years, Barbara Ann Dilbert; his two children, Jonathan Spencer Dilbert and Samantha Delany Gendron; his twin grandchildren Sydney and Mason Gendron; his seven brothers and sisters Mary Anne (Dan) Sorg, Thomas (Judy) Dilbert, Linda (Gary) Finney, Robert (Joyce) Dilbert, Catherine (Jerry) McFarland, Jeffery (Jenny) Dilbert, and Lisa (Joey) Elfers.
Joseph ("Joey") was born and raised in Reading, Ohio, the son of Joseph Sr. and Nehemiah (Faircloth) Dilbert, where he had an idyllic American childhood with his large family.
In his early years, Joey attended parochial school and on to Reading High School where he graduated in 1967. While at Reading he was an exceptional student and excelled at basketball and was a star player and Team Captain. Also during these years he developed his lifelong passion for golf in which he eventually became a championship amateur player.
But he began the most exciting chapter of his life after high school when he moved to his mother's childhood home state of Florida and met the love of his life "Barb".
Joey took many tough jobs back then to get established in his new home, and then provide for his growing family. He spent his working years in construction and has left behind hundreds of his projects which still endure. He also became an accomplished bass fisherman during these years, the excursions with which he shared with his son Spencer.
Upon retiring, he and Barb enjoyed spending time with the kids, and travelling extensively throughout the area.
Joey was a master story teller and would quickly captivate any gathering with tales of childhood and adult adventures. He had "stories" about each of his brothers and sisters, some of which were revelations to them! You always knew when Joey Dilbert was "in the house."
Joey resided in Longwood for 33 years, and passed away in his sleep at Advent Health Hospital in Apopka after his valiant battle with Leukemia.
