Joseph Iacono, age 88 died on October 13th, 2006 in Orlando, FL after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was born March 9, 1918 in Manhattan, New York to the late Angelo Iacono and Lucia Criscione Iacono. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and attended New York University in New York City. He was united in marriage to Fannie Jorge of Staten Island, NY in 1955.
In 1974 Joseph, Fannie and their son Joseph moved to Winter Park, Florida where he established the well known Italian restaurant Giuseppe's off Park Avenue in Winter Park. Giuseppe's was known for its authentic Italian food and its vaudeville style entertainment. Joseph later took a position with Lockheed Martin.
Joseph is survived by his wife Fannie Jorge Iacono of Orlando, FL and his son and his wife Joseph and Kate and grandson, Joseph Alexander Iacono of New York. There are five surviving children from his first marriage Lucille, Marie, Ronnie, Arlene and Angelo. He is further survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Joseph Iacono will be held on Tuesday, October 17th, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, East Orlando Chapel located at 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL 32822. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home for the viewing on Tuesday the 17th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the hour of service from 4:00 p.m. to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name with the Alzheimer's Association at 360 Lexington Avenue, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10017. Please note donations in Memory of Joseph Iacono Sr.
