Joseph E. Solick Jr. passed away January 23, 2022.
Joseph better known as "Joe" was born March 6, 1936 in West Palm Beach Florida. He attended catholic school in Bridgeton New Jersey and Vineland New Jersey. He went on to get his Associate's Degree in Business and Accounting. Joe was married to his beloved wife Loretta for more then 60 years.
Joe is survived by his wife Loretta of Pisa,Italy. Two children Lisa Solick of Florida and Mark Solick of Kansas and Mark's spouse Eva and their son Nicholas. His Niece Gina Tremblay and Nephew Steven DiFranco. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Barbara and Joseph E Solick Sr. Joe is one of 4 siblings, Joe being the eldest followed by and survived by Barbara Clark of PA, Janie Plecki of Illinois, and Peggy Solick-Holton of Illinois.
Joe often said "I am the Most Italian in the Family". He loved all things Italian and treasured his wife Loretta's heritage and family in Italy. The Carli's, the Landi's and the DiFranco's. They (the Italian Family) also celebrated in knowing the wonderful "Americano" named Joe.
Joe was a self made man. Paying cash for his first truck when he was just a teenager, from farming and selling strawberries. He was a "Master Creator ".
He met the love of his life Loretta Landi in 1956 Vineland, New Jersey. He saw her walking home from school and it was truly "love at first sight". Five years later they were married on September 2, 1961. A year later they started their family with the arrival of Lisa and then Mark.
Joe was also a very sharp dresser and never ever would be seen in shorts or flip flops. You would see him mowing the lawn in Jersey at our house in Glassboro in a button-down collared shirt with cuffs rolled up and trousers. He never stayed in his PJs, he was always dressed nicely first thing in the morning till he went to bed at night. Joe loved going out to eat at restaurants and taking our family. Back in the 1960s there were no booster seats for kids so Mark and Lisa sat high on phone books.
He loved a good gathering of friends and family. Loretta and Joe were very fond of having big parties and Christmas Eve open houses. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh.
Dinners were always at the dinner table. Every night before Joe came home from work, Loretta would make sure we children were clean and dressed nicely to greet him as he walked in the door.
A great memory was when Joe would tease and play with Loretta after we had dinner and the two of them would chase each other around the table. Mark cheering for dad and Lisa cheering for mom. So much laughter and joy filled our lives. There were hard times too, but Joe/Dad always made them feel easy.
Joe worked hard to be the best husband and father he could possibly be. He went to night school when Lisa and Mark were babies and join the national guards.
He always strived to be a good provider and to create a comfortable life for his beloved Loretta. That then led him to the best part of his work career. A position as comptroller at Antilles automotive car dealership in St Croix, USVI. It truly was a paradise for 12 years making memories and meeting people that have become lifelong friends.
Upon retirement they moved back to the states to Orlando, Fl. They built their dream home and settled in at Lake Hart, meeting new lifelong friends.
Joe(Daddy/Dad/PopPop)stayed true to his character till the end. He loved his children and wife family and friends more than anything. He always smiled, never held a grudge and fiercely defended his country.
Joe loved life and he will be missed so very, very much.
